Even More Puerto Vallarta Activities

As has been mentioned before Puerto Vallarta offers plenty of room on beautiful white sand beaches, seven world-class golf courses and even water parks that kids of all ages will enjoy. But these are just the start of the huge list of reasons why you should visit this Pacific Ocean resort destination in Mexico.

If you are a fan of art and culture there are over thirty different museums, art galleries and other historical attractions available to explore during the day. The city of Puerto Vallarta also is home to a sculpture first unveiled in 1976 known as “Caballeo del Mar” which is a nine foot tall Seahorse. For many years this statue has been a major tourist attraction with many people lining up each day to take a picture underneath it.

If you are traveling without little kids in tow, the party scene and nightlife in Puerto Vallarta may beckon your senses. There is a reason why much of the MTV Spring Break footage is shot in this locale; plenty of clubs and bars with loud dance music. And there is no shortage of different kind of music either, from pop to reggae and even foreign-language clubs.

Puerto Vallarta may be one of the underrated destinations for Mexican vacations, but not for long. With the large variety of attractions for adults and kids alike, there is always something to do.

The Skinny on Puerto Vallarta

Located on Mexico’s Pacific Ocean coast, Puerto Vallarta is often overlooked in favor of some of the other top destinations in the country like Cozumel, Cancun and Cabo San Lucas. This wonderful beach resort area is actually a very short jet hop from the southern United States, and many major airports offer non-stop service through several different airlines.

The beach section of Puerto Vallarta is actually huge when compared to other destinations; over twenty-six miles of whit sand on the Banderas Bay is available for you and your family. There are plenty of areas to just lie out and relax in the sun, make sandcastles and even some areas where ATV riding is allowed. If you are traveling with children you will be happy to know there are several water parks in the area with slides, wave pools and all kinds of water amusement.

If playing a few rounds of golf is something you always try to accomplish during a vacation, the Puerto Vallarta resort area is perfect for you. With seven world-class courses open to you, and many others with lower rankings, there is almost always a tee time available. The Professional Golfers Association has held several tournaments in the past and there are several courses designed by golf greats Arnold Palmer and Tom Weiskopf.

Cozumel Flights

Many people who enjoy the hobby of scuba diving have either visited, or plan to visit the Mexican destination of Cozumel. This small island is located about ten miles from the eastern coast of Mexico, and is one of the top tourist attractions in the country. Because of its numerous hotels, nightlife AND scuba diving, it is almost always full of vacationers from around the world.

There are many places to get decent prices on flights to Cozumel, including the plethora of online travel websites. When using one of these sites to check on travel prices, there are a few tricks to save you a few bucks. First, make sure you are a bit flexible in the time of year you want to visit Cozumel, and specifically which days of the week you are willing to fly. Many times you can save a hundred dollars or more if you leave on a Thursday rather than a Friday.

You can also do some searching through Google or other search engines for discount codes. Try searching for phrases like “Cozumel discount codes” or “airline coupon codes”, this is kind of a long shot but may work out in your favor. Often times the big travel sites will have an entire section that features deals and lowest prices on flights to resort spots like Cozumel.

Finally you should not totally avoid your Sunday paper’s travel section since some local travel agents often advertise special “offline” deals there. Many people no longer even think about visiting a travel agent’s office anymore, but in order to help this slowly dying industry some airlines will offer package deals to Cozumel through agents only.
